Description: Samuel L. Schmucker (1879-1921) was an American artist whose art nouveau-inspired watercolors were reproduced as postcards during the early twentieth century. Schmucker flourished as a postcard illustrator and more in spite of having his right arm crippled by polio. Schmucker studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Howard Pyle Institute. His original postcard artwork was only recently re-discovered.
