Description: Carl Linnaeus established the genus Epidendrum in 1753 to include the mostly epiphytic orchid plants he was receiving from tropical America, and over time the genus grew to more than 1,000 species. Some of these were transferred to other genera, while others have yet to be divided into subgroups. A portion of these epidendrums—those with pseudobulbs—are the focus of this volume, which collects and organizes the available data, showing what we know about these plants and what problems remain to be resolved in determining how and where to classify them. Nearly 100 color photos and 68 line drawings supplement the concise plant descriptions included here.
