Format/Condition: Gently used hardcover book with dust jacket is in very good condition: back free endpaper has a Penn State Harrisburg sticker with the name of Park B. T. Mellott typed on it. Inscribed “For Park, With thanks for your support” and signed by Michael Barton. Laid in is the 2004 exhibit pamphlet of the Historical Society of Dauphin County’s biographical exhibit of Vance McCormick.
Description: In 1919 the victors of World War I gathered in Paris to negotiate the peace and determine the fate of the world. Among the American delegation was Vance Criswell McCormick (1872-1946), a member of a prominent family from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
After studying at Yale, where he was noted for his prowess on the football field, McCormick pursued an illustrious career in business and politics, including mayor of Harrisburg, publisher of the Patriot newspaper, manager of Woodrow Wilson's 1916 re-election campaign, and director of the War Trade Board.
