Description: Full Leather. Near Fine . This is a very nice example of the kind of book that might have been printed and bound in Willamsburg in the 18th century. Crafted in Richmond at the press of August Dietz and his son, this being the first edition, with “an advertisement to the reader” by RG (Rutherford Goodwin).
This copy is bound in full blind paneled leather, gilt-stamped crest on front panel, spine title in gilt and blind-ruled. With marbled endpapers. This book is housed in a well constructed clam-shell case. The interior and edges being lined in salmon watered silk moire. The outside is covered in hand-made marbled paper with a hand written paper spine label. This copy has been signed by Rutherford Goodwin and both of the Dietz’s on the preliminaries. A tiny bit of chipping at spine ends, else fine.
