Description: Waves of child refugees from Tibet have arrived and continue to arrive in India—many of them separated from their parents—and the Dalai Lama established the Tibetan Homes Foundation to provide them with both a standard English curriculum and also a traditional Tibetan environment and lessons in Tibetan culture. In the 1990s, the Friends of the Tibetan Women’s Association inaugurated a painting club for these children, allowing them to creatively share their stories of leaving Tibet and their remembrances of home. This book, a collection of interviews, photographs, and reproductions of children’s art, reveals the personal struggles and triumphs of these young individuals and illuminates the commitment of the Tibetan people to keep their unique culture and language alive. This limited edition is enclosed in a cinnamon-colored embossed linen slipcase.
